Monestra Third-Party Notices

Third-Party Notices

Software

Monestra contains no third-party code. It is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks — SwiftUI, SwiftData, CryptoKit, StoreKit, PDFKit, Foundation Models, LocalAuthentication, and UserNotifications — supplied as part of the operating system and used under Apple's developer agreements.

There are no open-source dependencies, no bundled libraries, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising or tracking frameworks. Consequently there are no open-source licence obligations to reproduce here.

Data services

Monestra's Market data & currency feature is off by default and makes no network request unless you switch it on. When enabled, it may contact the services below. None of them receives any amount, balance, quantity, or identifier.

For share and fund prices you choose one provider, and you supply that provider's API key yourself. Only the provider you have selected is ever contacted; switching provider does not delete the other's stored key.

Frankfurter — foreign exchange rates

Daily reference exchange rates, published by the European Central Bank and served by the open-source Frankfurter project (api.frankfurter.dev). No API key is required and no account is involved. Only currency codes are sent.

Rates are daily reference rates, not live dealing rates, and are not suitable for transacting.

Alpha Vantage — share and fund prices (bring your own key) — default

Optional, and the default choice of provider. Used only if you supply your own Alpha Vantage API key, which is stored in your device's Keychain and sent only to Alpha Vantage (www.alphavantage.co).

Because the key is yours, your use of that service is governed by your agreement with Alpha Vantage, and is subject to their terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to it.

What is sent: the ticker symbols you have recorded when prices are refreshed, and — when you use the symbol search — the words you type into the search box. Search is a wider disclosure than a price lookup, because it includes things you searched for and did not go on to record; it therefore only ever runs when you explicitly ask for it, never as you type.

Prices are end-of-day figures and may run a day or two behind.

Twelve Data — share prices (bring your own key)

Optional, and an alternative to Alpha Vantage. Used only if you supply your own Twelve Data API key, which is stored in your device's Keychain and sent only to Twelve Data (api.twelvedata.com).

Because the key is yours, your use of that service is governed by your agreement with Twelve Data, and is subject to their terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to it. The same two things are sent as above: your recorded ticker symbols, and the words you type into the symbol search.

Prices are end-of-day figures.

Seeing this for yourself

Every request Monestra has ever made is listed in the app under Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Network activity — when it happened, which service it went to, and what was sent. Nothing is recorded there that isn't also listed above.

Services no longer used

Earlier development versions of Monestra fetched cryptocurrency prices from CoinGecko and Indian equity prices from NSE Bhavcopy files. Both were removed before release — see docs/LEGAL.md §9 — because redistributing that data inside a paid application requires licensing that Monestra does not hold.

Indian equities and cryptocurrency can still be tracked in Monestra using manually entered prices, which work identically to any other holding.

Trade marks

Monestra is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any bank, exchange, insurer, broker, or financial institution. Any institution, ticker, or product name appearing in your records was entered by you and is used only to label your own data. All trade marks are the property of their respective owners.

Apple, App Store, Face ID, Touch ID, iCloud, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and macOS are trade marks of Apple Inc.
