Travel

A passport of flags — where you have been and when. Deliberately not a budget tracker.

Travel is a log of countries and trips, rendered as a passport of flags, each stamped with the years you were there, above a summary of countries, continents, trips and days.

What it records#

Where and when. A trip carries a destination, dates, and a kind — leisure, work, family, adventure, other. Trips group by a key you choose.

What it deliberately does not record#

Cost. Travel captures where and when, never how much. If you want to track what a trip cost, that is an outgoing like any other and belongs in the module that owns it.

The reason is that a travel log and a travel budget are different tools with different lifespans. The log is a thing you keep for decades; a budget is a thing you keep for a month. Merging them makes both worse.

Not masked#

Travel content is not wrapped in Monestra's masking, and this is a deliberate exception. Masking exists to hide figures from someone glancing at your screen, and a list of countries is not a figure. Masking every flag would make the module unusable without protecting anything.

If that is not what you want, the module can be hidden entirely in Settings ▸ Modules.

Net worth, Radar and the Checklist#

Travel contributes nothing to net worth, raises no forward flows, and has nothing that can be finished — so it declares itself exempt from both Radar and the Checklist. That declaration is required of every module: a module that simply forgot to answer would make a heavy month look light, or an unfinished month read as done, and neither failure is visible on screen.

This manual describes what Monestra does with the records you enter. It is not financial advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or arrange anything.
